Can Access Be Restricted Between Business Units?

Question

Is it possible to restrict access to Dataloy VMS for a business unit without it influencing access to other business units?

Answer

Yes. It is fully possible to restrict user access per business unit, i.e. the set access restrictions of a unit will automatically affect all users within the unit, making only allowed areas accessible in the VMS.

To restrict access for a business unit:

  1. Go to Master Data > General Master Data Administration > Business Units.
  2. Define and enter applicable business unit (if not already in the system).
  3. Click Save.
  4. Connect companies to business units in Company Master Data
  5. Set default buiness unit in vessel internal data.
  6. Go to System > User Administration > Create A New User.
  7. Assign users’ applicable business unit by following the step-by-step instructions under To create a new user account, Step 6.
Note: For all users within the business unit, please restrict access to the Reports Centre module of the VMS as there would be no business unit filter. If access to the reports Centre unit is needed, please contact Dataloy.
  8. Click Save.
