Cannot Delete Port
Problem
A port will not deleted when trying to delete it from the list of port calls. Why does this happen and how can it be corrected?
Solution
The port call is actually deleted and then automatically reinstated. This occurs when calculating voyages where the system automatically adds extra port call/s to the port rotation, for example canals. Example: When calculating a voyage from Rotterdam to Singapore, the VMS automatically inserts the Suez Canal as a port with the reason for call "Canal". The canal is added to allow a user to address canal costs etc., directly to the canal entry. If a user then tries to remove the Suez Canal before first removing Singapore, the VMS will automatically reinstate the canal to provide the options previously mentioned.
To remove the automatically added port calls the port/s either:
- remove the port causing VMS to add the extra port call/s. Once that is done the extra port call/s can be removed.
- or insert a routing point on the port call after the port call that is to be removed.
Note: This will not remove Suez Canal automatically but making it possible to remove it.
Example:
Rotterdam - Suez Canal - GH - Singapore.
