Short Description

A coating can be defined as covering which is applied to the surface of an object (or substrate) and are applied either to improve the substrate’s surface or as a layer of protection between the substrate and the cargo. Coatings may be applied as liquids, gases or solids.

The Coating section includes the Coatings and the Coating Types modules. The modules represent the two levels of coating categorisation in Dataloy VMS. The Coating Types module is the least detailed and lists all coating types relevant to a user, for example zinc, stainless steel, etc. Coatings is a subcategory of Coating Types and the most detailed categorisation level, used to enter specific information about a coating, for example conditions regarding use and application.

The information is used when, for example, planning a cargo voyage.
