If you want to host your own Dataloy VMS server you’ll need an Oracle Database in addition to an application server.

We recommend having a separate application and database server, but you can run both Oracle Database and Dataloy VMS on the same server.

Dataloy provides hosting alternatives for running Dataloy VMS in the cloud. Please contact sales@dataloy.com for more information.

Requirements

English OS language is required on all servers that should be accessed by Dataloy.

Oracle Server

Operating System:
We recommend using Linux (Ubuntu or CentOS) on the Oracle Database server. Microsoft Windows Server is also supported by Oracle (and Dataloy), but our experience is that databases running on Linux servers tend perform better on the same hardware.
For details please refer to Oracle guidelines.

Disk Configuration

We recommend having separate disks/partitions for:

  1. System and Oracle program files

  2. Oracle datafiles

  3. Log files, archive files and backup files

We recommend using fast SSD disks for both system files and Oracle data files.

Memory Configuration

Minimum 8GB RAM

Processor Configuration

One (or more) powerful quad core processors.
(Oracle licensing regulations must be considered)

Oracle Version

We recommend Oracle Standard Edition One version 12c.

We require that the Oracle version is supported by Oracle.

Application Server

Operating System:

Dataloy VMS runs RedHat's application server Wildfly which is a Java based application server. It can run on any platform that has Java JDK. We highly recommend Linux (Ubuntu), but in environments where Windows Server is require we do not require using Linux.

Operating systems must support Java JDK version 8.

Java JDK

Dataloy VMS requires Java JDK 8 on the Application Server.

Disk Configuration

We require a separate partition of minimum 40GB for Dataloy VMS Application Server.

Memory Configuration

Minimum 8GB RAM

Processor Configuration

One (or more) powerful quad core processor.

Oracle and Application Server combined

When running both Oracle and VMS server on the same server we recommend at least 16 GB of memory.

Network and High Speed Internet Connections

For Customers hosting their own servers internet connection speed is not that important for the system performance (as everything is done inside your network)

For Cloud customers (where Dataloy Systems host the system) the minimum requirements for the internet connection are:

  • Download: 10 Mbit

  • Upload: 10 Mbit

It is possible to use the systems on slower internet connections, however this is not recommended and the user experience might affected by performance issues.

Some of the air emissions from ships are taxable, and many of our customers have requested the option of automating the reporting procedure to governments. Some are also very interested in monitoring their environmental footprint to be able to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The synergies that can be achieved by implementing this as a module in Dataloy VMS are substantial because most of our customers already have the required data in the system for calculating air emissions.

Wide range of emissions can be calculated
This module will enable the calculation of the different kinds of air emissions generated from the main engine, generators and boilers on board. Both fuel and diesel oil (high and low sulphur) will generate emissions, and based on the various consumption figures we can calculate the amount of NOx, SOx and CO2 the vessel or fleet produces.

Getting Started Calculating Your Fleet's Air Emissions.

Most common types of emissions are already added in the system. So to get started calculating a vessels emissions you'll have to input the vessel's emission factor for the specified emission type (e.g. NOx) for each fuel type (e.g. Fuel Oil High Sulphur)

Vessel Emission Factors

Register each vessel/fuel type/emission type specific emission factor. So far you will have to register a separate factor for each fuel type even some of the factors are equal for some flue types / emission types.

All factors are registered in the Vessel Administration module. There are separate tabs for air emission factors and air emission fees.

E.g.
Factors for Ocean Voyager:

Fuel Type

NOx

CO2

FO

0.3

3.2

FO LS

0.2

3.2

DO

0.3

3.2

DO LS

0.25

3.2

Emission Fees

In some regions there are taxes for emitted pollution. Such a fee can be added in the system to automate calculation and reporting based on the actual emission and given schedule

Information about emission fees are registered in the General Master Data module.

Emission Types

Emission types are maintained by Dataloy, contact us if you need additional emission types.

At the moment the following types are supported by the system:

  1. NOx

  2. SOx

  3. CO2

  4. CO

  5. PM

All types are calculated based on an emission factor per burned fuel of given type.

Example: 3.2 MT CO2 pr 1.0 MT of FO burned.

Reporting

Dataloy can offer help to develop reports that extract air emission data from the system.

  • Yearly fleet emission

  • Detailed voyage emission

  • Monthly/Quarterly reports (Prorated Emissions)

  • Official Emission Tax Reports (E.g. to Norwegian Customs for NOx emitted between Norwegian ports)
