Question

Is it possible to add waypoints to a vessel's route to avoid a pirate area? If so, how is this done?

Answer

Yes, it is possible to add waypoints to a vessel's route in Dataloy VMS to a void pirate areas. There are currently nine "anti-piracy" routing points that have been added to retrieve a safer and  accurate distance based on current routing advice in high risk areas. However, the piracy routing points are NOT automatically considered when a port rotation in Dataloy VMS or in the DDT is made. These must always be entered be manually and only using their respective piracy routing point code. Each is defined by a unique code and name. For more information and how to use, please see the VMS Knowledge Base under Piracy Routing (Routing Points, Canals, Piracy Routing Lists).
