Time Charter Fuel Price Incorrect on Redelivery

Problem

A vessel on route on a voyage received a delivery of fuel oil (FO) whilst on time charter. This has upset the end of voyage FO price. How can this be resolved?

Solution

Ensure that the last ROB fixed box on the redelivery port is checked. This box should be checked to confirm the actual redelivery quantity. Once this is done the calculations should be corrected.

Until the actual redelivery quantity is confirmed by checking the last ROB fixed box the VMS will automatically estimate the redelivery quantity as per what is stated in the contract. The reason for this is to avoid incorrect calculation of prices when a charterer is to redeliver the vessel with same quantity as on delivery (as normally the redelivery quantity would be close to what is stated in the contract). However, if a vessel receives FO enroute, the ROB quantity on redelivery will be very different.
